Autumn Flowers Pin Set
A set of 10 pin designs, each with a character surrounded by autumnal palette flowers. This page shows the process that I went through to get these made.

Apple is one of the larger pins! I hadn’t intended for there to be white in the gap where her tail is, but I’m assuming they had issues with making it just a gap structurally, so I don’t blame them for filling it in. Her colors came out well!
I’m not has happy with Fan, mainly because his scarf gets a bit lost in the rest of the design when light shines on the metal, and the red isn’t the shade I should have picked. Just generally a bit of a design that gets lost in execution.
I like the design of Lightbulb’s pin, but the yellow came out a bit more green/faded then I wanted, and you can’t see Baxter very well. I think sizing up the pin would be a good idea so you can see the little crab on her head.
Marshmallow is one of the more simple designs. While I managed to get her horns in, I had left out her tail as I would have needed more colors to make it recognizable and the manufacturer charges based on number of colors.
OJ is one of my favorite pins. The colors work well and his palette is nice and warm, perfect for autumn. The orange on his orange juice came out a bit more faded than I wanted or they didn’t put enough enamel but it still is a good design.
I love Paintbrush’s pin in concept, but the colors blend a bit too much. They’re very cute in a little coat but I think I should have left it out honestly. Otherwise I’m happy with how the designs on the character themselves look Ex. The hair.
These are the ten designs! The colors on the “metal” part of the design were not final, so the colors are not accurate to the final product!
These characters were selected for somewhat selfish reasons… I had friends that wanted a Paper, Suitcase, and Marshmallow pins XD
Otherwise, the other selections where intended to allow for easy shipping (as in character pairings). For example, I made a Test Tube pin, so I made a Fan pin to go along with it because they’re a popular couple! Of course anyone can pair whoever in this set with anyone, but the “pairs” of friends were intentional! Except Suitcase who was included indulgently for my friend who wanted Suitcase merch XD
This was the file designed for the manufacturer. The manufacturer asked that I prepare it in this way; Photoshop document, the colors on the right with the corresponding color code from the booklet they provided, and some way to show where the clasp of the pin would go on the back.
These file’s layers were labeled and easy to work through. This format was used for all ten of the pen designs.
This is the back board of the autumn flowers pin set. I designed it by drawing the whole flowers and re-positioning them around the page until I was happy. The final back board came out really nice!
To the right you’ll see an example of where the pins where expected to sit! They ended up being a tad bit smaller in the center from what I was expecting, but it still came out really well!
Test Tube came out well! I was worried about her tail but simply putting metal in the small gap helped with structure. I do think I shouldn’t have put a yellow flower, that area’s yellow all blends a bit too much together!
Bow’s concept with her pin is that the flowers are dying since she’s a ghost (obviously). I like the pop of her pink color crossed with the grays of the flowers.
Paper! Probably my second favorite pin design. I like the colors I picked for this, and the lines being metal works surprisingly well for the design. The pin is also an ok size in comparison to some of the other pins.
This is the final pin design!
The pin sits in the middle of the white circle. The final board of the flowers came out a bit of a different color due to the difference between RGB color, the coloration used in digital art, and the CMYK coloration used in ink printing!
The metal on the pin is a bit darker than shown in this image, and is difficult to get pictures of, as there is a shine on the metal that makes it appear lighter than it looks at other angles.
These pins are on the smaller size, around half an inch, but are very cute!
The suitcase pin is cute and a decent size but I’m not exactly happy with the colors. I don’t have much to say about this one but my design for her has actually changed a little so this one is technically not accurate but it’s cute. Her little tag tail came out pretty well!
